This service is for collectors who would like to confirm
and certify the authenticity of their historical buttons.
I can either do a single button or a whole collection.
My evaluations will be completely objective, and
completely biased toward the button's present condition.
Collectors should note that these letters are not
intended to be used to increase the value of their
button in the secondary market. All buttons with or
without a letter of authenticity will obtain it's value
from the current market. It should be noted by
collectors that these historical buttons do
fluctuate in price
depending on several factors. Primarily the rarity of
the variety as well as if it is a dug or non-dug
specimen. This service should be strictly seen and used
for the knowledge of the client. The service includes: A
letter of Authenticity from Isabela's GW Buttons, an
evaluation that is customized specifically to your
button's present condition, a free web-site listing on
Isabela's George Washington Inaugural Buttons, and a
Capsule. You will also be given your choice of either a
black or white cushion in the plastic capsule, and also
if you would prefer the capsule to be sealed or
un-sealed. If multiple buttons are sent in, you will be
given the option of purchasing and receiving all your
buttons encapsulated in a choice Button Display. The
letter of Authenticity will also have a professionally
photographed picture by our web site of your button
along with the current owner's name and address.
The button's past history will only be included within
the letter of Authenticity if the historical precedence
is known or documented in the past. A collector may
request an estimate of value, but is not included in the
letter of Authenticity.
A little about myself:
I received my Bachelors of Science Degree
in Political Science from The Pennsylvania State
University in 1989, with an emphasis on the Colonial and
Post-Colonial American government as well as the
business infrastructure of class systems. I have lived
in the Revolutionary War Hudson Valley Region in New
Windsor New York on Washington lake for over 25 years,
and have spent most of my recreational time researching
the origins and manufacturing of George Washington
Inaugural, New Nation Tribute, Jacobvite, Revolutionary
War, and War of 1812 buttons. I also have done extensive
hands-on American Revolutionary War Relic examination of
historical sites, and Metal Detecting all over the
Fishkill Area, Constitution Island, West Point, George
Washington's Headquarters in Newburgh, General Knox's
Headquarters in New Windsor, The Last Encampment of the
Continental Army of 1782-1783 in New Windsor, Fort
Clinton & Montgomery in Fort Montgomery, New York.
~ Buttons Sales ~
The Sale of George Washington Inaugurals, New Nation
Tribute, Jacobvite, and Revolutionary War Buttons
If you decide to sell your historical button to either Isabela's GW
Inaugural Button website, or one of our Presidential
member collectors immediately or in the future, your
evaluation service fee will be refunded, and added into
the purchase price as a Bonus. We often get metal
detector enthusiasts who find a button and would like to
sell it, or a family member inherited it from a loved
one and is not collectors themselves. We invite these
people to sell their buttons to our collectors since
there is a very limited pool for the people that have an
interest in collecting these types of buttons. Most of
our button sales come from people who found a button
metal detecting, and then prized it for a month or two,
and after the excitement waned they opted for the cash
since their not collectors themselves. Keeping a Single
button hurts the serious collector by keeping the supply
to a limited number, Unfortunately this fact has also
depressed the values!
There will be "No
Commission Charged" by Isabela's website and should be
considered a Free Service to both the buyer and seller.
We offer this Free Service to our Presidential Members
so they would not have to pay the high price sales
commissions that are associated with listing fees and
auction fees. Our intent is to help build collections
for our members by limiting the over all costs with
building their collections. For sellers they save
enormously by not giving up 18%-22% of their realized
price. This saving is enormous and should not be
undervalued by the Greed of an expected price. As of
date, all sellers have found they received a higher
premium for their button then they would have received
from an auction service; along with a faster turn-around
for listing and payment. So the benefits are more geared
for sellers then buyers because of service fees.
First, you
must decide the price you are willing to accept as
a fair market value for your button. Then send us a
clear photo of the button's front and back so we can
determine the price you want is fair. This is done by
using other specimens sold that equal your buttons
condition. If our member-collectors believe it is fair
priced you, we will invite you to sell it to our website
member collectors. If the price is agreed upon by both
parties, you simply send your button into the web site
address for the final sale. Once your button is recieved
in the mail, payment is sent out immediately by mail or
PayPal.
As of Sept 2014, every button accepted for sale by this
website has sold within 3-days, and sellers has received
payment within "1" week! Our sales success usually
is determined on the price and the condition first which
usually means our buyers are aligned before the button
arrives. Please feel free to call or email ask any
questions you have. -Robert J. Silverstein
